Our New "Home Sweet Home" - August 2016

Giving God Glory
God's Plans are Often Beyond Our Comprehension or Anticipation ~ However, as it is written:  "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has imagined" - what God has prepared for those who love him - these are the deep things God has revealed to us by His Spirit...  1 Corinthians 2:9-10  ~ When 2016 began, our minds did not even begin to imagine the plans the Lord had prepared for our family this year!  Though these verses refer specifically to the gospel, this principle of how God's ways and thoughts are often so much higher, greater, and beyond our comprehension or anticipation is all throughout the Bible (ex. Isaiah 55:8-9).  Not only have God's plans to move our family from Colorado to Ohio and Wes from firefighting to camping ministry been far beyond ours, God's plans have also been far better than ours!  What a wild and yet also wonderful adventure the Lord has our family on!

What's on the Harrisons' Hearts & Memorable Moment of the Month
Our New "Home Sweet Home" ~ Getting to and settling in our new home has definitely been filled with A LOT of memorable moments!
Crosscountry Roadtrip ~ CO to OH!
2 days... 1,300 miles...  Our boys did great and are quite the little travelers!

This was my view in our minivan from the middle seat in the middle row in the middle of Josiah and Samuel. :)

Josiah having fun with his sticker activity book * Samuel pushing the buttons on his cars book

Grandpa Harrison was a huge blessing and help with our move! * Daddy & son bonding time in the moving truck

Taking little stops along the way * We enjoyed spending the night with Grandma Steward and getting to see Jpa and Gma too!

Moving Day

We were so grateful for Wes' dad and all the Heartland staff who helped us move in! * Noah made Josiah into a "camo man" with mud while we were unloading ;)

Woods

Don't mess with these bros! * Noah & Josiah exploring the woods

Rendezvous with poison ivy :/ ~ The boys (and Wes) got hit bad all over their bodies and had to get shots and meds to help heal!

Fishing

All excited to go fishing! * Pond in our backyard (covered in a moss/algae)

Look what I caught!

Samuel enjoyed playing with the fish in the bowl but not so sure when they were on the lure ;)

Shooting

Wes and Dad shooting in our backyard.  Josiah wanted to be part of the fun but doesn't like loud noises ;)

Fun with Friends

We thank the Lord often for already blessing us with good friends!

Additional Outdoor Activities

Noah drawing & creating various art projects with rocks * Josiah cruising all over on his bike * Samuel splashing away in the dogs' waterbowl

Indoor Fun

Samuel has been enjoying the stairs in our split-level home!  He can easily go down them, and he also gets very excited about being able to turn the lights on and off. ;) * Samuel also started folding his hands to pray with us!!!  So precious!

Praises & Petitions
Friend - Continued prayers for a friend who has left the gospel and is in a journey of agnosticism.  I am praying John 8:32 for her that she would know the truth, and the truth would set her free.
Tami - Continued prayers for the Lord to give my dad and other loved ones His perspective and that God would heal Tami, but ultimately that His will would be done.  Please pray Galatians 5:22-23 that the fruit of the Spirit would abound in Dad's & Tami's lives during this trial.  Also, prayer of James 1:5 for wisdom with this trial.
Our Family - Praise for the Lord blessing us with safe travel and with working out all the logistics involved with selling and buying a home, moving, etc.  Praise for the Lord helping Wes, Noah, and Josiah to heal from poison ivy!  Please pray for the fruit of the Spirit to abound in our family in the midst of all the change, adjustments, and transitions in this new season (Galatians 5:22-23).  Also, please pray for the Lord to lead us to the church He has for our family.
Wes - Praise that Wes loves his job and schedule!!!! Please pray for strength and the ability to "soak it all in" as Wes jumped into work at Heartland and has been learning A LOT of new information and skills (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Christina - Praise for the Lord blessing me with another year of life!  Please continue to pray that the Lord would grow me in my love for Jesus and help me seek Him above all (Matthew 22:37 & 6:33-34).

Noah - God would graciously save him at a young age and lead him to walk with the Lord all of his days, if that be the Lord's will.  Praise for the Lord already blessing Noah with a good friend!  I asked Noah what he would like loved ones to pray for him, and he said, "For my poison ivy to stop itching and go away."
Josiah - God would graciously save him at a young age and lead him to walk with the Lord all of his days, if that be the Lord's will.  Praise for the Lord showing us that Josiah was ready to start homeschool; Josiah is doing great and already knows all of his colors and a lot of the letters and numbers!  Please pray that the Lord would bless Josiah with a good friend and comfort him when he misses his cousin, Nathaniel (2 Corinthians 1:3-5).
Samuel - God would graciously save him at a young age and lead him to walk with the Lord all of his days, if that be the Lord's will.  Praise for the Lord helping Samuel learn to walk! :)  Please continue to pray for the Lord to give us wisdom in comforting him when he is experiencing teething pain (James 1:5).

Marriage Memories
The Lord has refined Wes and I in our marriage as well as individually in all kinds of ways throughout this career-change, move-across-country, journey.  In the midst of a lot of change, adjustments, and transitions, it has been a joy to see the Lord's faithfulness in growing us closer to Him and to each other!

In this you greatly rejoice, even thought now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold, which  is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:6-9

Family Fun
On my birthday! :)
The boys and I had a fun outing day at a splash park and playground in Delaware!

Homeschool Highlights

At the beginning of the summer, we moved into our "light homeschool mode," and I decided to use these workbooks to keep Noah and Josiah fresh on their skills.  They enjoyed completing their homeschool activities from each section of their workbooks before going outside to play throughout the summer.  Once we sold our home, we took an official break from homeschooling to focus on packing and moving.  After we moved in our new home mid-August, I set aside one week dedicated to unpacking, and then we transitioned back into homeschooling with finishing their workbooks.

Wes' New Job!
We moved into our new home on Sunday, August 14th, and Wes started working at Heartland asap on Monday, August 15th!  For two weeks, the entire Outdoor Education staff had training for the 2016-2017 outdoor education season.  Wes thought he was done with the firestation... but he said it felt like getting hit with a "firehose" with trying to take in all the information. ;)  Wes loves his job, loves the staff he works with, and loves the variety that the job and schedule involve.
Holding Kellogg's the corn snake in the Nature Center
Heartland has a Reptile and Amphibian class that takes place in the Nature Center and includes all kinds of critters such as Papaya the crested gecko, Hadassh the ball python, and Ollie the turtle.

One of the aspects Wes looked forward to the most was being able to grow a beard since he was unable to at the firestation.

This is one crazy tree at Heartland ;)
