Game-changer: Our New Homeschooler & New Little Walker ~ April 2016

Giving God Glory & Memorable Moment of the Month

Our All-knowing God
Game-changer: Our New Homeschooler & New Little Walker

Our All-knowing God ~ We have been praying for the Lord to give us wisdom (James 1:5) as well as asking wise counsel from others with multiple boys for some challenging parenting dynamics with Josiah.  One day the Lord clearly answered our prayers when Josiah came up to me and said, "Mom, it's a 2!"  I celebrated with Josiah and suddenly realized he was ready to start homeschool.  So, I asked him, "Would you like to start homeschool today?"  His eyes grew big and lit up as he beamed with a giant smile and exclaimed, "YES!" :)  We still have some challenging parenting dynamics with Josiah at times, but starting homeschool has made a huge difference.  He was ready, and it naturally provides him with a lot of 1-on-1 time, which he thrives on!

Our New Homeschooler
Josiah started preschool this month!  He was SO EXCITED!!!! :)
It's been a game-changer in that he feels like a big boy since he gets to do homeschool like his big bro.
"Mom, it's a 2!" * Matching the alphabet activity

Our New Little Walker
Samuel started walking!!!  It's been a game-changer in that he can now "hang" with his big bros!
I thought my days would get a lot more active with Samuel being more mobile, but he is able to catch himself gracefully when he falls so it actually has lightened aspects for me since I don't have to hold his hands to walk everywhere with him.
*You can see a video below in the "Samuel Sentiments" section.

What's on the Harrisons' Hearts

Trusting the Lord to guide & provide in Wes' job search ~ Wes is continuing to pursue a career change from firefighting to camping ministry, and our gameplan has expanded from Colorado (where most of Christina's family lives) and Wisconsin (where Wes' family lives) to many states in the Midwest.  Wes applied for 10 positions in 5 different states.  We'll see what the Lord has in store.
(*Present update as of beginning of June ~ Wes has 1 application in Texas and 1 application in Ohio both are for an Outdoor Instructor position, which we think would be a great fit for Wes.
He has recently been asked for an interview with Heartland Conference Retreat Center in Ohio. )

These verses have been encouraging to us as we reflect on God's faithfulness in growing us closer to Him and making us more like Him in the midst of this season of significant refinement and also in the midst of Wes' job search with ups of making exciting connections in camping ministry and also downs of discouragement with receiving several "no" answers.

Praises & Petitions
Friend - Continued prayers for a friend who has left the gospel and is in a journey of agnosticism.  I am praying John 8:32 for her that she would know the truth, and the truth would set her free.
Tami - Continued prayers for the Lord to give my dad and other loved ones His perspective and that God would heal Tami, but ultimately that His will would be done.  Please pray Galatians 5:22-23 that the fruit of the Spirit would abound in Dad's & Tami's lives during this trial.  Also, prayer of James 1:5 for wisdom with this trial.
Our Family - Please continue to pray Proverbs 3:5-6 for the Lord to guide and provide a new job for Wes in His perfect timing and that He would grow our trust and hope in Him (Lamentations 3:22-26).
Wes - Please continue to pray James 1:5 for wisdom in the job search and also with challenging aspects at work.
Christina - Continued praise for the Lord faithfully refining me in this challenging season.  Please continue to pray that the Lord would grow me in my love for Jesus and help me seek Him above all (Matthew 22:37 & 6:33-34).
Noah - God would graciously save him at a young age and lead him to walk with the Lord all of his days, if that be the Lord's will.  Continued praise for the Lord growing Noah in loving his brothers, especially Josiah since Noah will sometimes provoke him.  I asked Noah what he would like loved ones to pray for him, and he said, "That I would grow in my love for Jesus and get better at my reading."
Josiah - God would graciously save him at a young age and lead him to walk with the Lord all of his days, if that be the Lord's will.  Praise for the Lord showing us that Josiah was ready to start homeschool; Josiah is doing great and already knows all of his colors and a lot of the letters and numbers!  Please continue to pray for the Lord to grow him in self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) since his disappointment when he doesn't get what he wants is manifesting in other ways such as throwing himself or objects on the ground, stomping, wailing, etc.
Samuel - God would graciously save him at a young age and lead him to walk with the Lord all of his days, if that be the Lord's will.  Praise for the Lord helping Samuel learn to walk! :)  Please pray for the the Lord to give us wisdom in comforting him when he is experiencing teething pain (James 1:5).

Noah News
Age - 7

Cute Communication
*"He is SO CUTE!" ~ referring to Samuel

*One evening after I put the boys to bed, I went outside to return a pan to one of my neighbors, and we got to talking and catching up on life.  After several minutes, Noah comes outside the front door sobbing!  I have never seen him crying that hard before.  I immediately knew he had probably got up from bed, had been looking for me, and then thought something had happened to me.  Poor guy!  I comforted him for several minutes before he was calm enough to talk.  As we were talking through the situation, Josiah came down and said, "I told Noah to stop crying and started singing a verse to help him feel better."  Noah jumped in, "Josiah that didn't help me feel better because I thought Mommy was dead."  I felt awful for Noah!  He was telling me how he felt like he couldn't protect me or help me...  Precious boy...  After continued discussion, hugs, singing, and praying together, the Lord gave him peace, and he was ready to go back to bed.

*"Mommy, how do you spell ______ ?"  Noah's starting to write on his own and has been asking this question when he is trying to figure out how to sound out and write a word in his mind.
