1st Year Celebrating Christ as a Family - December 2009

Giving God Glory
Celebrating Christ - Jesus' birth as a humble babe in a manger took on a whole new meaning after having little Noah join us in this world this past year.  I think what meant even more to us than before is that God sent His ONLY SON to die for our sins because of His great love for us.  Wes and I can't imagine sacrificing our only son, Noah, as God did with Jesus and Abraham almost did in faith and obedience with his son, Isaac.  So, thank You, Lord, for Your amazing love for us.  May You grow us in loving You more than our son.  Help us remember that Noah ultimately belongs to You and that we are to surrender him to You and Your will.  Protect us from holding on to him too tightly.

What's on the Harrisons' Hearts
Growing Deeper in Love - We finished a Marriage and Family class that we had been taking together via DVD from Front Range Bible Institute.  This definitely brought us closer together in our marriage, particularly in persevering as a team since the work load was quite overwhelming!  We didn't know if we were going to finish all the work in time.  Let's just say we celebrated when the last assignment was turned in!  We are grateful for all the principles the Lord taught us through this class and how we have grown in our love, understanding, and appreciation of each other.

Standing by My Man - I am extremely grateful for the husband God has blessed me with, and most of the time it's easy to follow his lead.  However, though its the best way and the right way, it's not always easy to support Wes and be a submissive wife, particularly when I don't see eye-to-eye with him.  A change in our travel plans to KS tested me in this.  I am thankful that the Lord helped me to let go of my desires to be with family in KS and trust the judgment of the man He has placed over me.  Thanks to God's grace, my initial frustrated attitude did not ruin our celebration of Christ on Christmas Day.  I respect and appreciate Wes' desires to be a protector of our family and safety and that he tries to look at every angle when making a decision.  Looking back at the end of the day, it was a joy to stand by my man!

Praises & Prayers
Shannon - Praise God for protecting her and Baby Wyss throughout the signs of pre-mature labor and the onset of gestational diabetes.
Shane - Praise God for continuing to work in his life in giving him a desire to know Christ biblically and grow after getting saved out of Mormonism previously this year.
Shawn - Praise God for His work in bringing about successful heart surgery for the little guy.
MBC (our church) - Prayer that God would continue to grow us spiritually and also numerically.
Me - Prayer for my womanly cycle to become regulated as my flow has been light but steady for the past month.  We are hopeful (with Dr. support) that its just nursing throwing things off and that my body will stabilize when I stop.

Family Fun
1st Christmas as Our Own Little Family - Though we missed being away from other family, we enjoyed celebrating together and starting our own little traditions (some from our families and some our own):
Burritos for Christmas Eve Dinner
Reading the Christmas Story
Sparkling Grape Juice for Breakfast
We look forward to growing our traditions over the years and as Noah grows older. We spent the afternoon with some of our dear friends from church, Dennis & Kelli, and are grateful for them welcoming us to join their family festivities.
Thank you Dennis & Kelli for the memorable Christmas celebration!

It's All About Being Flexible - We've re-discovered the value and art of being flexible (and planning strategically around naps).  Wes and I continue to enjoy getting out with Noah and have needed to in order to finish our Christmas shopping.  Noah's become a pro at eating his packed lunch on the go in our car.

      Head - 18 1/4 in.            3%

Daddy-do:  We finally did it...Noah's 1st haircut.  Wes cut it all by himself, and you'd think a professional did it!  Noah's hair looks so much better, though his double hurricane-swirls (calics) - as Grandpa Rush calls them - still stir up some wild hair at times. :)

Most Memorable Moment
Checking out Claus - Wes' work had a Christmas party, and of course, Santa came to visit the kids!  We were convinced that Noah was going to burst into tears, as he does with almost all new people lately, but we were in for a surprise.  He was as calm as could be, though his look was priceless!  He sat frozen stiff checking out Claus.  Everyone got the biggest kick out of his expression, and we're glad we caught it on camera.
