We praise the Lord for the arrival of our healthy baby boy, Noah Randall Harrison, on February 25 at 11:07 pm. He was 6 lbs. 10 oz. and 20 in. For those of you who like details, read on... :) Our plan for delivery was to try to have him naturally but to be flexible to do whatever we needed to. Christina started having contractions at just before midnight on February 24. Wes came home from work in the middle of the night, and we went to the hospital but were sent home since Christina was only at 3 cm. A couple hours later, we returned to the hospital to be admitted since she was then at 4 cm. During the next several ours (total time of labor was approx. 23 hours), we had quite the adventure: attempting a natural delivery but got stuck at 7 cm, broke water and discovered Noah was in some distress as we found meconium (baby poop) in the water, increased to 8 cm and got stuck again, talked options with doctor and checked effectiveness of contractions - determined not being very effective, talked over next steps of inducing labor with potossin but Christina was exhausted and needed a break so got epidural, increased to 9 cm and thought would increase to 10 cm on own and deliver but got stuck again, Noah's heartbeat dropped and all of us knew it was best to get him out ASAP, so 5 minutes later Noah entered this world. Lesson learned in having a birthing plan - be flexible, trust the Lord, and ultimate goal is healthy mom and baby. We praise the Lord that both Christina and Noah were healthy. We were definitely exhausted but excited to begin our adventures in raising our family. :)
